1. How do I access "Peanut Forums"?
If you are a past user of peanut, try logging in using your login name as your password.
Remember to change your password within "Peanut Forums" once you have logged on.
2. What is our E-mail address?
Our address is peanut.org. If your screen name is morley then your e-mail address would be morley@peanut.org. Our quad number is 216.128.155.2
3. How do I get to use WWW?
You use your browser, either MS Intenet Explorer or Netscape. Be sure that you have connected to the Internet.
4. How do I use telnet?
Telnet allows you to log into a particular server anywhere in the world. You become attached to that server and if you have the right login name and password can access that server's information. To. You will need to know the address of the server you are trying to reach.
The address will look like this moreinfo.wc.com or it may use its quad number. The quad number is the REAL address used by the routers. The number will look like this 208.158.8.10.
NOTE.. all the periods are used by the network to route information and is part of the address.
5. My computer froze. Can I just hang up?
Yes. Just remember that whenever you just hang up the modem it takes about 2 minutes to 5 minutes to recycle the modem. Until the modem recycles you and others will not be able to log back in as the phone will just ring.
6. I can not send or receive any e-mail.
Please read the message post that give e-mail address for all the services and explains how to address e-mail messages. If you are using a browser version under 3 then you may need download a new version. You could download a POP3 mail program from www.shareware.com.
7. What is FTP?
FTP is a protocol for transferring software or programs through the internet. .
8. What is Telnet?
Telnet is a protocol which permits you to connect to another server's port anywhere in the internet world. You must have a login name or pass- word. Most host server's have a welcome message letting you know how to login.
9. What is WWW?
World Wide Web is a protocol which permits the connecting of information based on hypertext linking. All information must have an URL (Uniform Resource Locator , an example would be for Free-Net, www.peanut.org is the URL) for your browser to connect with to pull up the GUI. (Graphical User Interface). All sites are accessed via http:// protocol.
