SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia company has finished second in the running for a prestigious award from the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Sylvester-based AIC Wireless Controls finished second in the running for the Georgia Featured Export Product Awards. They make remote control systems for agricultural, industrial and commercial clients.

The company was founded in 2005 and now has 30 distributors in the U.S, Canada and China and has plans to expand to other parts of the world. While it had it's roots in agriculture, AIC now does much of its business in the commercial field and recently won a contract with Fort Benning.

"We were selected by the base to bring our product in, to use their existing system to now monitor lighting control. To turn on the lights in stadiums, school crossings, track lightning," says Bryan White of AIC Wireless.

An AIC system was also recently installed in one of Chicago's many skyscrapers. The winner of the award was a Savannah-based company which makes custom jazz guitars.
